SmileShare™ clear aligners are a safe and effective alternative to traditional braces. Dental professionals use this treatment to straighten crooked or misaligned teeth and correct malocclusions. SmileShare is a series of clear plastic aligners that fit securely over misaligned teeth and move them into the correct position over time.
SmileShare aligners are available at Westchester Dental Arts in Los Angeles and the surrounding area. This treatment is used to straighten teeth and enhance a patient's smile. It also improves overall oral health by bringing teeth into their proper positions to improve functionality.

Candidates for SmileShare Treatment
According to WebMD, the appropriate candidates for clear aligners such as SmileShare are adults and teens. Children's mouths are changing as they grow and develop. Therefore, designing clear aligners for younger patients can be complex and may not create lasting changes due to how a child's mouth is still in development.
Additionally, clear aligners are generally recommended for treating mild to moderate alignment and crowding issues. More severe malocclusions such as severe underbite, overbite, or crossbite may require more aggressive and complex treatment. Some patients prefer to receive SmileShare following another dental treatment.

Benefits of SmileShare
The primary benefit of this treatment is that it is extremely discreet. Unlike traditional braces that use visible metal brackets, SmileShare aligners are clear, making them nearly invisible. It is also possible to remove these aligners for short periods. That means the patient can remove them for important events such as sporting events, photos, dates, meetings, and presentations.
The fact that they are removable makes maintaining good dental hygiene simple. SmileShare clear aligners are easy to care for because patients can brush and rinse them as part of their regular daily hygiene routine. As an added benefit, patients receive a "Patient Kit," including a storage case with an internal mirror, instructions, and emery board for smoothing aligner edges if needed.

What To Expect From SmileShare
SmileShare should be worn for at least 23 hours each day. The aligners push the teeth into the goal position, which can cause minor discomfort. However, there is rarely any significant discomfort and it can be managed with over-the-counter medicine in most cases.
SmileShare trays are removable, requiring patients to take them out when eating. Additionally, patients should take the aligners out to rinse them after drinking any sugary or acidic drinks. Liquids can get caught between the aligners and the teeth, causing damage to the enamel if not rinsed promptly.
Dental hygiene when using SmileShare is similar to normal oral care. Patients should brush, floss, and use a mouthwash at least twice per day. Additionally, patients should brush and floss before placing the aligners in their mouths. Rinse the aligners immediately after removing them, and clean them daily with soap and cool or warm water.
“Dental hygiene when using SmileShare is similar to normal oral care.”
There are many reasons patients choose SmileShare. Professionals may recommend this treatment when appropriate as a subtle way for adult and teen patients to address orthodontic issues. A few benefits of this treatment option may include:
Discreet: One of the main reasons that patients choose SmileShare is the aligners are almost invisible when in place. This makes the treatment discreet in comparison to other options.
Effective: SmileShare works well to improve tooth alignment and address minor crowding problems. The length of treatment is often between 18 months and two years. This can be less time than the average for traditional braces, which can take one to three years, according to the Mayo Clinic.
Removable: The aligners are removable. This means eating habits and oral health care routines do not have to change.
Self-Esteem Boosting: Patients often feel uncomfortable about having misaligned teeth, crowding, or other dental malocclusions. Addressing these issues can help patients feel more confident about their smiles. For many, this treatment can have a dramatic life impact.

Q.How long does the SmileShare treatment process take?
A.The severity of the patient's misalignment or malocclusion determines how long it takes teeth to shift into their proper positions. Most patients achieve their desired results in less than two years. Some adults who wore braces as a child and need a minor adjustment may see results in as little as 10 weeks.
Q.Is SmileShare comfortable?
A.Because aligners are designed to shift teeth, patients should expect to experience minor discomfort for a few days after receiving new aligners. This discomfort should decrease as teeth adjust to the new positioning. Patients may take over-the-counter medications such as Aleve®, Motrin®, or Tylenol® to relieve minor pain.
Q.How should SmileShare aligners be cleaned?
A.SmileShare™ aligners should be rinsed with cold water when removed. They are easy to clean with soap and water each night. Patients should always brush their teeth before replacing aligners to keep them clean.
Q.What are the benefits of SmileShare devices?
A.These aligners are discreet and effective. They also move teeth more quickly than traditional braces do. Aligners are removable, making it easy for patients to brush their teeth and floss effectively.
Q.Who is a good candidate for SmileShare?
A.Patients with minor teeth misalignment are good candidates for this treatment. It works well for teens and adults. Patients with severe malocclusions may be advised to seek an alternative treatment.
Q.What are SmileShare aligners made of?
A.Most aligners are made from a clear plastic or acrylic resin. SmileShare devices consist of thermoformed material. This makes them more durable than other aligners.
